DiamondGeezer
Hi All, I have just purchased a couple of Accessory Decoders (R8247) and 8 Surface Mounted Points (R8243) now that my layout is on a baseboard. I must admit that the instructions for both could really be improved which is why I need to come on here and ask a relatively simple question. I have mounted a point motor to one of my Hornby Points (Just a standard Left Point), have put power to the Accessory Decoder and wired the Point motor Red wire to the +, The Black wire to the - and the Green Wire to the 'C' sockets in port 1 of the Decoder. I am using a Prodigy Advanced 2 Controller. I select Accesory Address 61, and Press 1 to Switch the point 'On' and it gives a good hearty click, pins out its little extending arm and switches the points....brilliant!.....however, then going to turn the point off I then expect to the the extending arm to retract and through the points back again but nothing happens there just isn't enough juice. I have tried another point, and also the other decode and still the same thing happens. Am I missing something here? Surely the point motors just throw the point one way. Even taking the central spring of the point out doesn't make any difference. My layout is DCC. Does anyone have any ideas please? Thanks Matt
Rog RJ
You need to connect the black wire to the "C" (Common) terminal instead of the green wire if you are using Hornby point motors
