DaveAus
I suspect it's a fact of life that most of us have locos from other manufactures as well as Hornby. With Hornby it's easy as they are mostly all listed but when it comes to the others do you create a new loco or use a similar Hornby one ?? I've done both but I'm not sure which way is best. HornbyRailMasterSupport
RailMaster contains every Hornby loco made since 1975, in a database. When adding non-Hornby locos you should not use a built in Hornby loco as this will automatically use the profiling for that Hornby loco. Consequently, your new loco will not run at the correct scale speed as all motors/gearing are different. You should create a brand new loco, as shown in the PDF guide, and assign an image for it. Of course you can use an image from a Hornby loco, if it exists, and navigate to the program files => RailMaster => Locos folder for all Hornby loco images. You can also download your own image from the Internet and resize it correctly using the facility within RailMaster (again mentioned in the PDF guide). You can then assign your own shunting and cruising speeds. If you want the loco to run at scale speed you will need to enter it's top speed and time taken to go around the test loop, as shown in the PDF guide.
