BigAl43
I have purchased a DCC Select Controller R8213 and an accessory decoder R8247 with only one point motor so far. However in wiring everything up and programming the controller to use the points attached to port 1 of the accessory decoder the lever which should open and close the points firmly flicks out when the arrow on the controller is pressed but does not flick in when the opposing arrow is pressed. This is happening before I actually try attaching it to the points themselves. I initially thought that the points motor (or is it just a solenoid?) was faulty so I returned it but the replacement is doing exactly the same so it seems more likely something else is wrong. As far as I can see my wiring is ok so does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Rog RJ
This can be caused by incorrect wiring. Hornby points use the black wire for the common, Peco use the green as the common.
Fishmanoz
I agree with Rog, double and triple check your wiring.
Fishmanoz
And yes, they are just a solenoid, or a 2 solenoid combination. If you accidentally wire the common to one of the other connections, only that side works and it throws only one way.
BigAl43
Thanks for the help - swapping the green and black wires worked!
