Alvonian
I have a DCC fitted BR Standard 4 (R2751X). It has run without problems for the past two years. I decided to weather it and was very careful when working on the wheels and it ran perfectly. I then finished adding weathering to the smokebox and tender, put it back on the track and — nothing; refused to move. Took it off to re-program it, and again nothing; it seems to refuse to be programmed. Does anyone have any ideas what I have done/could do? Fishmanoz
Smokebox weathering is unlikely to have caused a problem, which leaves the tender. Could you have possibly bent the tender connections to the loco to cause a short? Try removing the tender and see if the loco responds.
Michael_A
If you have a short, it will trip the DCC controller, so you should spot that easily. I think you are more likely to have a connection problem somewhere, (in spite of being careful, check the wheels / pick ups) or the decoder chip has failed by some extreme bad luck / coincidence. (Maybe static?)
Alvonian
Unfortunately, on this model the tender is permanently connected to the loco by wiring and it all seems to be in place. The fact that there is no response at all makes me think that the chip must have failed. It came DCC fitted. I have heard that locos can be restored to factory settings, but I don't know how. I wondered if that would be worth a try. Thanks for your help, guys.
idlemarvel
You can try a reset by writing value 8 to CV8. Are you using an Elite? Do you see the red flashing lights when you try and program?
