Non dcc loco with eLink

Recommended Posts

RailMaster is a DCC only loco control system. Running analogue locos on a DCC system is not recommended even though some systems support this. Because RailMaster can handle many more locos and points/signals than a traditional DCC controller and run programs it therefore does not support analogue locos as these can affect the reliable operation of the former.

While it doesn't directly answer your question, and it is not simply a plug-in decoder, adding a decoder is not hard - four soldered joints, and adequate space for it. This may help:

Bms, you might note 0-4-0 installation is by far the simplest installation and more so than the Hornby guide suggests. The motor is no longer mounted upside down so doesn't have to be removed. So just unsolder the pickups from the motor, throw away the suppression components and solder red and black wires to pickups and orange and grey to the motor connections and you are done. If the loco runs backwards, swap orange and grey.

And Danny, there is a real risk you will burn out the motor in a DC loco on a DCC layout - not a good idea at all, even with controllers that will run it on 000.
