Tim A
Good Morning, I am enlarging my DCC layout and whilst I have a bus wire around the present circuit for power, are there power boosters available to save running wires everywhere? As it is in my garage it rather a long layout now.Any help appreciated.Tim
Flashbang
Hi The first question is.. Why do you believe you need more power (Amps) available? Size of layout isn't really a necessity to increase DCC track power. If you have a correctly sized pair of DCC bus wires then you should be fine. If you have a Select or elink with a 1.0Amp power supply then you can if wished upgrade the power supply to the Hornby 4.0Amp version. Part Number P9300. If you have an Elite then it already has a 4.0Amp power supply of which 3.0Amp is available to the track. This should be ample for all but the largest of model railways where many locos are running all at once. Hornby produce a Booster part number R8239 which will give a full 5.0Amp to track and can be wired to the track output terminals as a general power booster or used to feed a totally electrically separate section of the layout, but then all tracks leading onto and all tracks leading out of the section must be fitted with insulated rail joiners R920 in place of the metal joiners (Fishplates) to isolate the section from the rest of the railway.
