SPECULATION!!!!!!!

.

Rumours start for many reasons, some through gossip, some by people linked to other companies, etc, etc, etc.

.

3 years is a long time, a lot can change in that period! Some of us may not be here in 3 years let alone Hornby!

.

If I remember rightly B*mann had their own problems not so many years ago.

.

I'll pass on this one, I have better things to do, Trains here I come ;o)

Well, there's another point of view here...

Hornby go through a bad couple of years with the well known issues they have had... Bachmann have had their problems too so much so they dramatically increased their prices across the board recently because fo costs and poor sales.

Why then would they suddenly turn around and say "Mr Hornby man... we are buying you out in 2017 matey... anything to say?"

Get over it... ain't gonna happen. If it was you would never hear of it this early on anyway. This kind of knowledge and pre information can lead to distruction for companies. It is not strictly legal either. To be honest, if I had any thoughts on this I would probably see a merger more than any takeover. However, Hornby are pulling things round far quicker than any of the others so why would they sell up? Profits up, margins up, stock level increasing, prices stabalising compared to Bachmann, distribution sorted, costs ironing themselves out... come on man... business would not welcome Bachmann taking over Hornby... more the other way round. I am nostalgic but know how business works to a certain extent and at this time negotiations would not even begin to be talked up. Too much time between now and then and too many factors to wheedle in for this to be a concern to anyone.

Well said AC

.

It should be obvious, who ever said it, is talking out of their backside or stirring rumours for the sake of it.

With just the one comment referring to '3 years time' this should be enough to tell anyone it is nonesense.

I wouldn't think the Monopoly Commision would worry if they merged. Not exactly life and death is it, they didn't object to Hornby taking over Airfix, Corgi, Lima etc..

Can't see it happening though, just another groundless rumour.

Crazy world WTD.

So many seem to get a kick out of creating rumours just to get things fired up. Creating viruses to cause problems with computers, basically doing anything to wind people up.

.

Hornby won't be 'wound up'..... They now have DC and DCC and a lot more going for them. ;o)

.

Things are no longer going like clockwork... they are going better then clockwork.

To be fair, Airfix, Corgi, Salextric & Bassett-Lowke aren't oo gauge model railways, and Lima were hardly a major player by the time it was taken over. Hornby and Bachmann are the two biggest brands in OO by some distance so you'd essentially have one big behemoth with pretty much no competition. Any fool could see that that's a bad idea.

Wouldn't whoever regulates markets and stuff prevent a merger or takeover anyway? It'd essentially close down the competition on the OO market...

Thank goodness there's no chance of it happening.

about £14 million will make it happen

£14m? Doesn't seem like much for a company like Hornby...

Highly unlikely that Bachmann would take over Hornby. Hornby have not long bought themselves out the manufacturing deal they had with Bachmann's owning company Kader for making their models at considerable cost and sourced new suppliers. I doubt very much if Hornby would want to go back into such a situation considering what they spent to close the contracts. It's more likely that it would be the other way round with Hornby taking over the Bachmann brand name once Hornby recover.

Hornby has just made a profit after a couple of bad years trading. This makes them very strong so buy your shares now at the rockbottom prices as they will increase very soon.

EDIT.... Too late to make money shares at 0800 today 72.75 and at 12.30 83.50 thats 14.78% + changed for the better. Or investor confidence. Buy now whilst stocks last.

Kader is a massive company that makes Hornby look like a corner shop next to Tesco.

Kader could buy Hornby if they wanted to. It's a publicly listed company on the stock exchange. The management have no say in the matter. I would not speculate on whether they would want to, nor would I make any recommendations about buying shares. I wouldn't want to get into trouble with the FCA. :-)

The Monopolies Comission closed down years ago and was replaced by the Competition Comission, which has also been replaced by something else.

Did Hornby make a profit or loss this year? If you can work that out from the annual reports you're a better man than I am, Gunga Din.
