Scott in Kent
Good afternoon !, My Names Scott and I’m after some help, I recently acquired what I believe is a Hornby R2358 SNCF CLASS 90 90130, The motor runs fine but I believe that one of the 2 driving sets of wheels is slipping. I found these 2 black plastic “things” on the track and am not sure whether these are from the train or not. (the gears on the wheels are intact) Also, one of the copper contacts is bent. I suppose my question is, are the 2 black plastic things from the train and can it be fixed ? (I’m really not good at fixing small things with my fat fingers !) Many thanks in advance for reading my post/media/tinymce_upload/DSC01596.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/DSC01602.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/DSC01604.JPG

So no topic to wander off, just the opportunity to wander.

Fishmanoz
What watts did you fix on your ohm?WHAT? Your volts squared divided by your ohms PJ, that's watt! Or your amps squared times your ohms, as you will.
Graskie
But I thought the question was, "To be or not to be?"

Graskie
We all have to wait for pictures to be passed by the moderator, Scott. It can take a while and I see that your first one appears now. Sorry, I can't help you with your loco problem, though. Someone else probably can.
2e0dtoeric
Scott- it is hard to tell from those pics, but the left wheel on the bogey shown appears to be missing a traction tyre (like a tiny rubber band!)Th two plastic 'things' at a guess, are dummy shock absorbers that were glued to the bogey near the springs (that don't work either).Again, it is hard to tell, bcause there is nothing in the shot to give them any size. poliss
They look to be from a cardan drive shaft, but not from the Class 90 who's service sheet can be found here.https://www.hornby.com/downloads/view/download/item/45The power pick-up (copper coloured strip) should be touching the back of the wheel. I'd suggest taking the body off to check everything is in place.
trainlover23
I see the normal protaganists are waffleling again. Why do you have to go off topic on every single post and TRY and be clever
walkingthedog
I don't think the plastic objects are anything to do with the loco. Can't say I've ever seen anything similar.

VESPA
Hello Scott, from what has already been said regarding the traction tyres and the wheel pick ups, the small black plastic bits I have seen somewhere but at present I cannot remember. I have 2 of these locos and there were no extra bits with them when I got them new. Keep hold of the parts but I think that they are from something else. The annoying thing is that I have seen similar with something I have. Sadly too much to go through to find this side of 2020. Something in my mind suggests a wagon but that is just a maybe. Did you get it secondhand from Liverpool?
walkingthedog
How big are those objects Scott. Can you take another picture of them with a 50 pence piece alongside to give an idea of scale? Other coins are available.
VESPA
How big are those objects Scott. Can you take another picture of them with a 50 pence piece alongside to give an idea of scale? Other coins are available. From my memory I think they are about 7/8th inch long. I have seen them on/with something and think that they push fit to hold another part in place.WTD I know you are asking Scott here not me, but I just thought to add this.
