Miniatur Wunderland

I was wondering if any of you have been to Miniatur Wunderland (German spelling) in Hamburg. My wife and I went in 2012 and were blown away by what we saw.

We were at the massive working display (spread over 3 floors in a docklands warehouse) for over 6 hours and still did not see everything.

Entry is relatively cheap so if your ever anywhere near Hamburg its well worth a visit.

Yes I went with my brother a year or so ago, and it is truly amazing! The airport in particular is a sight to behold. The modelmaking is absolutely breathtaking. The only thing that is a bit offputting is the sheer amount of people - if you go during a busy period, it is very difficult to see everything as you literally have to squeeze through crowds to get to the viewing barrier. There is a lot to see, so it may be worth seeing if you can spread it across two separate visits.

Other than that, it is definately worth seeing!

I look at the number of replies to my original post (which were mainly positive) and I compare it to the number of replies about delivery complaints and reach the conclusion that while many of you profess to be passionate about modelling it appears that you may be more passionate about moaning.

I don't know why more of you can't go and see this display as you could do a day trip from theUK for around £100.

Who knows, it might even take your mind off moaning about Hornby deliveries,

or maybe you just can't spare the time to drag yourselves away from the moan machine.

Life is good , make it fun.

Yes I'd seen a feature a few years go in the Metro paper about this layout. It's hard to think tht it has more mileage of track than the Worth Valley Railway [5 miles] at Haworth and if it were brought up to full 12" to the foot it would be about 60 miles or more. As for the operation of the layout it's run just like the real thing with multipule members of staff. Certainly puts our collective efforts in the shade!
