Do you want to know how to fit a decoder in an old loco Bob? If so it's best to ask in the DCC section. Also give the thread a title such as 'Fitting a decoder in an old loco'.

Hi Bob, welcome to the forum.  As this is your first post could you please explain why you have chosen your name as the subject of your thread, its just that we have had quite a lot of discussion about people doing it recently but never really found out why and your answer would help us understand, Thanks.

As WTD says, the place for your question is the DCC section and in fact you will find the answer to your question, in that section.  No need to re-post it, admin will move your thread to the correct section, hopefully.

Perhaps it's because, when you go into "Add New Topic", the heading against the box just says "Title:". Perhaps if it was more explicit such as:-

"Title to be given to your new thread:"

 

New posters might realise it isn't their name which is required :-)

And it's not one size fits all old locos, you need to tell us which one.

 

Once you tell us, Admin can move this thread to the DCC forum and give it the title Fitting A Decoder to the loco you tell us.

Yes, we were having a similar discussion on another thread a week or so ago  but we were all guessing why members do that, so I was just hoping we could find out exactly 'why' in this particular case.
