cee-jay
Can someone tell me what cable is used to connect the elite direct to a computer, it must have a number like everything else, and its not R8236 or R8266
ModelerXYZ
A usb cable. Hornby do not do them, but they can be obtained from any computer shop. You need the one with a USB cable that can plug into the computer with one end and a square usb connector on the other.
walkingthedog
A standard USB lead I guess with the appropriate plug to fit the Elite. Admin another one for the DCC section.
Howbi
I've just used a standard printer cable, USB-A to USB-B.
Chrissaf
As previously stated, the USB Cable is not a Hornby item as it is an industry standard USB Cable, albeit quite an old style mainly still seen these days on printers and some scanners. It is a USB Type B Male connector at the Elite end and a USB Type A Male connector at the PC end. It is a USB 2.0 cable backward compatible with USB 1.1 specifications..The following link is just an example of the cable. They are readily available at most PC and Electronic retailers, but not necessarily as cheap as via the Internet from a specialist supplier. Link opens in new page / tab. Chrissaf
CeeJay, note the documented e-bay cable is 3 metres long. I would assume that the Elite and PC for your layout will be closer together. My example link gives a 1 metre cable, but you can buy this cable as short as 0.5 metres if you search around. The high street retailers in the main, tend to stock lengths in the 2 to 5 metre range, but the likes of UK suppliers such as Maplin, Currys and PC World in my opinion are taking the micky with their high prices for cables. Sheer profiteering.

Teedoubleudee
Check out Amazon Basic cables. They are decent quality and reasonably cheap like this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NH13DV2?&keywords=basic%20usb%20printer%20cable&qid=1436781355&ref_=sr_1_5&sr=8-
Rog RJ
Wilko's are good value http://www.wilko.com/computer-audio+video/cable-usb-a-b-18m/invt/0349204
Yelrow
Unlike the elink, which is a tad more fussy, i have found that any usb, cable, works with elite. I had a box of them, from previous desktops, and the first 4 i tried, all worked fine. john
Rog RJ
Just noticed a typo in my last post. Should be Wilko's and not Wiko's.

Chrissaf
CeeJay, did you mean 1.41 or did you mean 1.42.1.42 is the latest firmware upgrade, if you have genuinely upgraded to 1.41 then you have used the earlier previous firmware file download from the Hornby website.
