81F
Just thought I'd add this new topic to see if people want to share modelling projects with others. As many of mine are adaptations of Hornby products I hope the moderator will not mind.
81F
My first is a GWR 517 body for the Hornby 14XX. For some 30 years now I've wanted a model of number 1473 "Fair Rosamund" which was the woodstock branch loco which took my grandmother to school in Oxford. Having failed at scratch building one in my teens, ruined a McGowan Models white metal kit and wrecked the body of a Hornby 14XX, I thoght I would turn my hand towards 3D printing. My first attempt was fractionally too short so keeps popping off the chassis nso having made it a little longer I printed half of it to see if it would fit. The photos below show the results which seem OK so I am now awaiting delivery of the whole body shell./media/tinymce_upload/1d5912f93ce09322a814d695b0892cfd.JPG /media/tinymce_upload/1cbc7e377df452edc5ced6e9a06e7553.JPG
81F
Two projects i have on the go at the moment is a GWR 517 for the Hornby 0-4-2 auto tank chassis and a GWR Saddle tank for the Standard hornby 0-6-0 chassis. The former is in a post currently awaiting mderation because of the photos. I've also started a third - a body for the electrotren 0-6-0 saddle tank. Possibly the ex-Cloebury Mortimner and Ditton Priors Light railway pannier.
LCDR
My workbench, AKA the dining table in our conservatory, contains an O gauge SE&CR class C 0-6-0 I scratch built in 1976 and which required a full repaint. Also a 0-6-0 O gauge chassis for a LMS 3F 'Jinty' a friend of mine built in 1979, just before he was killed in a motor cycle accident. Both these have been sitting in my big shed since we moved to York in 1993, and I rediscovered them during a search for something else. I will now finish his 'Jinty' in rememberance of him. I have tested them, plus his LNWR Coal Tank which I also have, and remarkably after a clean and oil they all still run. However today I will be respraying the lower panels of my car I stupidly scratched and bent while reversing into a narrow gateway.

Yelrow
Eurostar set bought for 15 euros, £9.50 at french car boot. Included all track, points, controller etc. Bought fully working loco chassis from ebay, waiting to refit to existing body, to allow to run. Existing loco just revs, as plastic cogs seen better days. Also triang TT loco, while i source material to make rectangular piece to hold wheels/ pick up clips in place. john
LCDR
The O gauge Jinty is coming along nicely. I have the footplate, side tanks boiler, firebox and nearly all of the smokebox completed, ready to put together, and hopefully I will start the cab and bunker tomorrow. Detailing will take considerably longer of course, adding boiler bands handrails, sand boxes and splashers gets fiddly, the smokebox door will also require a good deal of work.as it will have to be shaped by hand. I spent over an hour getting the curves on the top of the firebox sanded to the right profile. Still need to find a source of boiler fittings (Chimney, dome and safety valves, also tank fillers) does anyone have some suitable 'O' gauge bits in their spares box? Had a bit of a problem with the 'C' class repaint, the transfers I had were over 30 years old, and refused to stick. I have sent to Fox for new ones. 81F
Just 3D printed more replacemnt chassis for my 6 wheeled Sasage Vans. Below is a comparrison for the GWR version (Mine on left). Although mine has nem pockets, I did wimp out on a clemenson chassis and took the easy option of turning off the centre wheel flanges in an electric drill./media/tinymce_upload/50a65f4049c8dd86665b49c668a05891.JPG

Carltonf
81F, do you mind me asking what kind of 3D printer you have please? You appear to be getting excellent results from it and I'd quite fancy one!

You appear to be getting excellent results from it and I'd quite fancy one! Hi Carltonf,I dont't actually have a 3D printer myself but send the files off to a printing service called Shapeways who print them and return them for a fee. Although this saves on the initial outlay it probably works out slightly more expensive but I can try out different materials more easily. The other advantage is that if I make the model available others can order them from Shapeways too. Carltonf
Thanks 81F. Very interesting site, I've not come across that kind of service before. I imagine in the long run they would still be cheaper than getting my own; I have a habit of giving up if I can't get things the way I want!!! Buz
Some weathering, a bit of moss here and there, bit of clutter outside? Nice model nonetheless.hi TeedoubledeeIts not very apparrent in the picture but the wood work was done scorched brown then dry brushed in bestial brown and lastly dry brushed in grave yard earth The white isn't white iether its white and grey just sort of slapped on and left to do its thing that was also dry brushed in grave yard earth the window on the inside has a mix of flesh wash and PVA that was put on in down ward strokes and the a couple of window panes cleaned of in a circular motion like some one has wiped the window with a bit of rag.The roof also is black the dry brushed dark grey then a light grey then very lightly you guessed it grave yard earth. So it has been weatherd it took a week to do all the painting some before some after assembly.I take your point on the general clutter will have to re visit that part when it is more apparent what the hut is suposed to be the will give me an idea what should be around it.Moss is a bit more problomatic I don't actulay know what it should look like we don't get any where I live to hot and dry for it.regards John

Moss tends to grow on roofs, gutters etc. But it does look fine just as it is.Terry
