Daniloza

nmcabecadas
Revell made the Calypso and a few years ago released the kit again under the name of 1/125 Ocean Expedition Vessel. The model included the helicopter and was nice, with more than 100 parts and can still be found.
Dad Paul B
There could be a rights issue here. Cousteau's various children have been arguing about inheritance and last I heard 'Calypso' was rotting away in port somewhere while they decide who owns it. This may explain the neutral naming of the last issue. It would also make getting good data for a model problematic. It would be intersting for those of us who grew up with 'The Undersea World' but probably not a big draw. Not really my area of interest but an interesting subject for those who like things a little different.
Caerbannog
I build the original Calypso Revell boxing as a kit and just loved it so happily bought the rebox. The odd 1-125 scale is a bit sad. Would prefer 1:144 or 1:72 and combine it with a Catalina in Cousteau livery. The Calypso was a heavily converted YMS class mine sweeper. I have no clue how popular such a ship would be as a kit - but maybe it offers the possibility to release a kit with alternate parts to either make a Calypso or a YMS boxing. "?" Harold Smith
As I understand it, the recent debacle with the Revell Calypso was due to Revell buying the rights off a family member who claimed to own them, but turned out not to own them at all.IIRC, there was a Cousteau Catalina in 1/72nd sold at the same time as the original Calypso kit. Harold Smith
In 1/72nd scale she'd be 59cm long which is practical: only about 25% longer than the S-Boot model.
