You are not logged in error message

For several days I have intermittently had this error when trying to post. It would appear that I am not the only one who has seen it. Fishmanoz reported it happening to him to in another post.

.

It doesn't happen all the time, predominantly it happens on the first post of a new forum session.

.

One has to be logged in in order to see the post reply box, so it is not a case of being forgetful to log in first.

.

At present, my work around is to copy my pending post to the clipboard before clicking the 'Reply' button as once you get this error message anything one has typed is completely lost.

Hi

I don't know if this is relevant, but it may be.  If you click on Chris's or Fishy's username, you get an error, whereas clicking on WTD (for example), you get his user page.

This does need fixing and could be the cause of the "not logged in" issue.

I looked in earlier, without logging on - about 1300 or so, and after reading a couple of threads, I clicked the (back) arrow to go back to the header list, and got Bad Gateway 501, Then every time I logged off, and back into the forum, I got the same message.

Obviously it seems to be working again now!

Hi Adam, apologies, missed your question.  I typically use Safari on iOS 9 latest on my iPad. I log on from the forum itself, not into the site from the link at the top.  Then for ages, any long post brings up the message I am not logged in when I go to hit Reply.  No problem with short replies.

However, I just found your question this morning when I made a long reply on the 1.62 or not 1.62 thread in the RM forum and it worked. I then came here to report same.  So maybe it is now fixed?

Sorry Adam, spoke too soon, it is not fixed.  It just happened to me again exactly the same way when trying to post to the Train Tech SC1 thread in the RM forum.  Don't know how long it took me to compose that post, but shorter than the one at the weekend that worked, very strange.

It happened to me again yesterday as well. Strange, because the issue seemed to have been sorted. Yesterday's reoccurrence was the first time it had happened for ages. I think it may have happened on the same thread as Fishy too, but can't be 100% sure on that.

.

Fortunately my post text was sitting in Windows 'clipboard' ready to be re-pasted.
