Can I ask the reason behind not using stone ballast?
Because their layout is hinged, so they wanted something more lightweight

Not bad, 2 years later i finally check! It was V.1.41.
.
I've updated it now, it took 4 attempts. PC type:3 done the trick.
I'd just jumped ahead before reading the whole instructions and done type 1. It failed, tried it again on #1 to make sure, then read the rest of the instructions. Done it on #2 and it failed twice. I found a PDF in the folder which had explanations, it said about type 3. Tried that and it worked.
Sorry for the really really late reply, all my stuff was in storage

Number 3 is supplied by Hornby with their coaches, i think. I found something similar on some i just had delivered today

In my town, up until a month or so ago there was a Hornby stockist. Now the nearest one is an hours drive depending on traffic.
Not enough product sold, so they reduced stock on hand and moved it to a smaller space. Eventually they just stopped and used the shelf space for more in demand toys.
Shame really. My only choice is online now

Didn't mean to hijack this thread!
Next time I use it, I shall have a look at the firmware version. I didn't try pressing the function button more than once, just went by the instruction manual. But alas I shall print the upto date one.
Thanks all

I shall be printing that picture you've posted Chrissaf! Thanks for the info, i thought it was weird.
However, in my Elite manual it states it can control 13 functions (just dug it out) so i must have an old manual?

I have a Hornby Elite and a Gadwall TTS sound decoder. It seems ok to me, but i only don't actually have a model railway atm so i've only ran it on a straight lol.
What i did notice though, is the Gadwall TTS has 16 sound functions i believe, but the Hornby Elite can only access the first 12 sounds....

So because I was impressed with the 1st one being cheap with working lights and sound, I've just won another exactly the same. Not as cheap, but hopefully just as good.
.
Had to get 2 so I can double header them hehe

Last month I bought an Elite. So I had to buy a dcc loco to make sure it was ok. I managed to get a Bachmann class 47 University of Leicester extremely cheap. Both work brilliantly
