  1. Xtradecal X72195 do a number of Mitchell Mk.II decal options for the time period you require (actually there is 1 listed on eBay at the moment but Hannants are a stockist). But aftermarket sets don't usually provide the invasion stripes like Airfix occasionally do, so I think you will have to paint the stripes!

  2. Having read the available reviews online I would say that there really isn't a modern accurate tooling of the SEPECAT/BAC Jaguar out there so a good opportunity for Airfix to fill the void with a new tooling 😃👍!

  3. Most of the Lancaster kits have scheme for the flame dampeners, but if you were to build say the BoB Memorial Lancaster PA474 or a very early Lanc, these would have the exhaust stubs! Airfix regularly included additional parts on a sprue for different versions/schemes to reduce overall production costs when issuing a different version etc.

  4. Marus you might be getting confused with Revell who have done several 1:32nd Scale aircraft and use it as their large scale. Other companies have used that scale too! As far as I'm aware Airfix are the only model company to do aircraft in the large scale of 1:24th, and as Ratch says they have done several since the first Spitfire Mk.Ia in 1971

  5. Yes it's that time again, and I have a few which I think are all mainstream subjects so at some stage would be discussed/decided upon at any future products meeting the Hornby/Airfix Offices.

But I'll leave those for now and join Hurricane Boy in saying I'd just be happy with one :-

HANDLEY PAGE HAMPDEN MK.I in 1:72nd Scale

  6. I don't know if anyone has noticed but Airfix has been doing this year's and maximising the value of the new tool moulds, for example:-

    Blenheim B Mk.I evolved into the F Mk.I, B Mk.IV & F Mk.IV

Lancaster Mk.I/III evolved into Mk.II and Mk.III Special

Wellington Mk.1a/c evolved into the GR Mk.VIII and Mk.II. And there are others!!

I fully expect that the most recent new releases of the Beaufort & Mosquito with evolve in the 2022 releases into an updated boxed version.

Yes there are 1 or 2 omissions such as the Beaufighter as mentioned (the TF Mk.X even has the wing ejector ports for the 6 X MG's of the Mk.I and some Mk.VI's). But maybe it is still planned?

But credit where credit is due eh?!

  7. Clearly NOT Ratch.

After such early promise I think the Forum has been let down again 🙁! I still love Airfix kits and will continue to purchase and build the wonderful new tool models, but feel the Customer Service/Feedback let's the organisation and products down? Hence apart from the odd comment I don't use this Forum much, and post my builds elsewhere ........

    Shame on you Airfix!!

  8. Clearly some interesting and diverse requests, but personally I think the most popular choices have a more realistic chance of becoming reality!

And if they don't appear in the imminent 2022 releases, I think the clear winner would be the ........

    HP HAMPDEN

    Followed by the ........

FAIREY BATTLE (regardless of whether Azur issue a new tool of this kit cos I feel Airfix's market reach would be greater and still sell very well)

They are of course my personal choices as well!!

  9. Good, and don't forget to post your builds when you get round to them. And don't worry about what level you consider yourself to be, the forum caters for everyone of varying abilities. And lots of help and guidance is available if you ask!

  10. It has been released initially as the B.2 and later updated with new parts as the K.2/SR but due to catelogue rotation is not currently available.

However as part of Airfix's Advert Calender tip-bits they announced that all 3 V-Bombers will go on sale at the same time, so I expect that the Victor will be in the 2022 catalogue (announced on Mon 10th Jan 2022) and the Vulcan and Valiant with remain for now!

So Cinders you shall have your wish 😄!!

  11. eBay to get the best price for all the kits, though as Ratch says can be time consuming and a hassle listing, then packing/posting individual kits.

Traders such as Kingkits may buy your late husband's stash in bulk but you will get a fraction of their value, I've heard as little as 10% or in the region of £1 per kit!

  12. Yes Hurricane Boy I like to try and be realistic with my wishlist as I do despair with some requests for obscure models which may suit the originators interest but wouldn't sell in the volumes to be profitable 🤔!

I heard it somewhere that when Hornby took over they wanted to redo all Airfix's back catalogue, but as you say that would be a monumental undertaking and take far longer than the original catalogue, so much so I'll never see that day 🙁!!

  13. It's got to be said as many have. But to complete the early war RAF medium bombers we definitely need a new tool Handley Page Hampden.

And to add to the early war air component then the Fairey Battle needs the new tool treatment as well.

I'll keep it simple with just the 2 requests rather than waffling on with unrealistic demands!

  14. Look across all retail outlets and you will find all paints (Humbrol/Revell/Tamiya/Vallejo and lots more) are no longer cheap to buy and the costs do mount up.

I don't know if it's demand forcing prices up, production costs or the cost of raw materials, but it's across the board and not just Airfix and their Humbrol range!
