if it’s not used models it’s trying to earn from social media, ads/sponsorships etc.

That is why I dont subscribe or watch youtube when it says "paid promotion" or advertises a sponsor. I did subscribe to one until the paid promotion words came on but cannot find the link to unsubscribe.  Found it now and unsubscribed.

Platforms look great, just double check clearance against ruining gear on steam locos - that caught me out initially.

Not just steam locos but more importantly the 08 as that needs even more clearance.

  3. On the last incarnation when I clicked on Forums it automatically went to TT 120, now it always goes to many and I have to scroll down.

Not too much of an issue having to do an extra click (not one less as stated elsewhere) but would be better not having to do it as previously.

@Silver Fox 17, Sorry, didn't read it as a joke, that's the problem when seeing something, you don't always get its intent. One of the reasons I quit Facebook, sarcasm really doesn't translate well.

Yes, it is a problem these days and I am just the same and guilty at times. Due to issues on various sites things do get misunderstood.

Do they have a spare parts list Garry

Just looked at the spares list Piko sent me and the only items not available are the chassis block, wheels and valve gear.

Boiler, handrails, screws, cab etc are, everything but what I wanted. Hopefully the loco will be here in the next few days and it will give me an idea what I can do.

Do they have a spare parts list Garry? With a steam loco there could be differences between the wheel sets other than the traction tyres, so there isn’t a driving wheel without the tyre that could replace the standard rubber tyred one. It’s obviously a lot easier on a diesel 🤣

Manufacturers often say something isn’t possible (or permitted in Germany) but it is 😁

Yes there is a spares list but will have to look later.

Even here some manufactures will say something is not possible but I/we do it so I am not ruling anything out yet, just hoped they had spares in. The only issue I can think of is the tyred set has different length crankpins which would be an issue. If it were balance weights I would not be bothered about things like that.

Garry, only 1 axle on my diesels has a tyred wheel, I’m not sure on Steam as don’t have any

Matt, I received this today from Piko.  I will have to see how the loco goes and think of ways to do away with the tyres. I may be able to fit some metal rings in place but until the loco comes I wont know.

"It is not supposed to change the wheels to ones without traction tyre. So there is no fitting wheel set for this loco without the traction tyre."

'Steam is only boiling water which has no energy or heat to light a fire otherwise our shelf above the kettle would have burned down a long time ago.'

It wasn't the steam or the smoke that was the issue, it was the burning lumps of coal that some locos used to throw out. I believe the 'Sir Nigel Gresley' got itself banned for setting fire to the embankment at Wingerworth near Chesterfield until it had meshing put on the inside of its chimney.

I know what was meant, it was a joke in response to the post of how it was worded.

And the demise of steam. No steam, no risk of setting fire to the encroaching vegetation.

That happened to me first time I tried to read it then second time it went through to the proper article. Not sure what's causing it to glitch like that but hopefully they can sort it.

It is still doing it for me, about a dozen times and someone else on FB too as well as here.

It would be sensible option Nick, most the European makers offer replacement wheel sets in plain and traction tyred versions. Option in the box would be ideal.

Thats interesting, I did not know European makers offer non tyred replacements. I will have to look into that for steam locos as I don't have tyred locos.

If you mean A it looks like Hornby have replaced the black tape on a screw that looks as though it is fully home. Or did you mean B?

Screw A, the black tape has no reason to be there, even the second hand one yesterday had it but lower down as the screw was undone so obviously it is not there to keep it in. SK did say he had no idea why it is there as it serves no purpose.

Front bogie is awry somehow, not sure what is causing this but I think the adjustment Hornby have made has caused a further problem. This is on a R4 curve and the front bogie can be seen to lift and make contact with the first driving wheel, only visible from inner rail. On R3 that causes a derailment. On R4 it clicks back down after a few seconds and off it goes for another circuit. I can see nothing wrong with the track and there is nothing caught on the underframe. R-

Edit: no adjustment has been made to any b2b.

Strangely I got this for the very first time last night. It was a second hand ebay purchase "supposedly new" and when I ran it I had the same on corners and points. The cause was the chassis to body holding screw was half way out catching the bogie. I simply screwed it in and it is like all the rest of my locos, no problem now.

  14. The bogie arm that is fastened to the chassis needs to be tight and dead straight. If it is loose or angled slightly then the sliding pivot can allow the wheels to catch the drivers or cylinders.

That is why Hornby had the chassis block and bogie holding arm altered with a pin cast in the chassis and a hole in the holding arm to keep it straight.

10 done and 4 left to go, I like to leave a break in between doing them so they all look different. It’s all easy stuff but would people like a video on how I do it, very similar to the way it’s done in club magazine and no airbrush or expensive bits needed and very simple skills 😁

A video is far better than words, which for something like this is not easy to understand and do.

Although technically that’s mainly filmed in Oxfordshire. It’s a very dangerous place, usually 3 people die in bizarre circumstances each week. 😳

Only 3, I thought it was more. It is surprising there is anyone left, or, who wants to live there.

@Silver Fox 17, if a Deltic doesn't fit, you could consider a DP2 body if such a thing exists — it was used regularly on the Eastern Region until its unfortunate demise at Thirsk in 1967, and was of course the prototype for what became class 50.

I saw DP2 many times in operation, and when sheeted over in York sheds after the accident but it does not appeal to me.

The problem I can see will probably be the 3D printed material thickness fitting over a chassis.  If it wont fit I can always sell it on.

  18. No full yellow ends, no corporate blue or there after liveries so anything pre 1968 is allowed.

I do have 2 HST sets but there is a specific reason for those and it is not the norm.
