  1. As we progress through this year's calendar I think I may have stumbled upon an idea:

If the door reveals a link to a brand-new blog post, make sure said post is live!

Just a thought that I didn't expect needed to be voiced.

  2. I can't help but think this is a step backwards; they don't even come with the Vintage Classics logo.

They will be in the original style boxes, distinct from the Red Box.

Going by Steffen Arndt's photo of the Top Gun standee at Nurnberg, they're new boxes (the aircraft on the boxes are clearly not the 1986 box models) designed to evoke the originals: http://ipmsdeutschland.de/Ausstellungen/Nuernberg2020/Bilder_AT/75.html

I'm really hanging out for better pictures.

  3. Hi team,

I'm very excited to see N51EW, Tom Cruise's P-51D appear in the Airfix range as part of the Top Gun: Maverick line.

    However.

It might be a good idea to edit the product details...this aircraft DID have the noseart "Kiss Me Kate" but it was removed after Tom and Kate divorced in 2012!

  4. The groundswell of support for the Beaufort Brigade is rising! Perhaps if we keep nagging we can get one in the 2017 range?

There's one at RAFM Hendon which can be scanned/referenced, but I understand from those in the know it's a bit of a piecemeal/patchwork aircraft model-wise. There's another in Australia being rebuilt to fly (which would be my preferred subject), at least one being restored to static and a complete example at the Australian War Memorial. Field trip for Team LIDAR!

  5. Perhaps you'd get more if this had been posted in the Wishlist part of the Forum.

The ol' FROG is still well worth seeking out and, more recently, the Special Hobby ones came and went and are still out there, going for reasonable money nowadays.

I'm keen on a Special Hobby one when I can afford it, but I do have a FROG and it needs several parts replacing in my opinion - wheels and clear parts especially. It's not cost-prohibitive but it's not easy to get together, either (especially sourcing engines and cowls for RAAF-operated, DAP-built machines).

  6. Here's hoping, Dominic. There have been some very vocal folk on various forums over the years pleading for a new Beaufort - mostly in 1/48 - and I would dearly love a Beau in any scale from Airfix given their recent quality.

Sign me up for two RAAF kits!
