This looks really nice AA. I do like to see a weathered aircraft. I built the Revell version and can report it goes together well.

Brilliant job you done there, awesome!! clap
I am currently building the new Vulcan... may I ask how much ballast weight did you put in the nose cone section??
I know the instructions say 40g but, in previous builds where ballast was required, I always found the recommended amount to be not enough and had a few tail sitters as the end result.
I really don't want my Vulcan to end up being a tailsitter so I put a 3oz (85g) weight in there to be absolutely sure.... which brings me to my next question, with the extra ballast weight would you think I would be better off using some aftermarket metal undercarriage parts in case the plastic parts fail???
Thanks blush
Hello Martin,
I can't remember how much weight I put in, but it was a fair bit more than 40g. Easily around the 60g mark. As you know, there's a lot of space you can use. As for the nose landing gear, I used the standard kit item, which doesn't appear to be having any trouble supporting the extra weight.

Hannants have quite an advanced search facility, you can filter by scale etc. Six Airfix show up at the moment on there.

A very nice Swordfish Heather. I built the float version some years ago and was very impressed with the kit.
Adding to the historical references in your thread, I believe it is said, the Japanese got their idea for Pearl Harbour, after Britain's success at Taranto.

WOW That's a nice clean build. Maybe one day I'll get some where near that standard.
When I returned to this hobby, I built a 1:72 Hurricane. No one has ever seen the result of that first build !

Moderator's note:
Your pic was sideways so I rotated it - however I was unable to remove the one on it's side. :(
Thank you Mod. My error was using a phone instead of a computer to make the post ! I thought I was being clever.

That looks great Seb. A bi-plane in 1:72, a demonstration of true skill.

When the New tool Vulcan was announced, I ordered one as soon as it was possible to do so. It's a nice well detailed model, but those air intakes are still troublesome. I suspect that's because, replicating the real thing in scale is indeed a difficult task. There are some other areas that need a 'modelers' touch, but no show stoppers.

Very nice finish. I haven't built one of these in years. I should build more helicopters.

I like this a lot. I might have to get one, oh wait a moment....

Great result. I'm not sure my attention would last that long. But well done to you.

Very nice. These gulf war aircraft are great for a bit of weathering. I do like the well used look.

Great work on the Stuka. I haven't built one of these in years, something I should correct.
-
Looking very nice. Good luck, that's going to be a lot of work.

I've been informed all pre-orderes are intact and I should have some more news tomorrow.
Thanks Patrick.

Exactly the same with me to. Mine's an order for the Vulcan as well.
-
Jeff, that's a very nice JP. I like this simple little kit so much I've built two, with a third (a Red Pelican) in the pipe line.
-
'Faith' looks great, nice job.
-
That's a great finish, 1:72 as well, makes it even better.
-
That's a very nice looking 'kate'. Well done.
-
An excellent build Peter. The weathering is spot on and brings your model to life just perfectly.
-
You Bucc' looks splendid. I've built one of these new kits (a brilliant kit) but mine's on the ground. Flying mode looks so much better.
-
You've done a great job there Jeff. I quite fancy having a go at one of these old birds myself now. I actually think, raised rivets look quite effective.

Yes Ben, it was airbrushed using MRP, and the camouflage demarcation was done using 'clever putty' It's a bit like blu tack sausages, but settles better on the model. And, just for fun, you can roll it into a ball and bounce it. Strange stuff indeed.
