  1. Got back from holiday and thought nI would have another go at this convertion. I think that the problem is (but I could be wrong) that after servicing the X04 motor, I cannot get the worm to mesh with the worm gear and therefore there is a slight space between the motor and the chassis which does not let the the driving wheels to power up. It would be great if anyone in the Airdrie/Coatbridge area who knows how to get round this could contact me SammySquire[[
  2. Well I have finally thrown in the towel on this project I bought another X04 chassis which ran perfectly on DC I serviced it and tried another convertion without success. I followed all instruction to the letter given to me by the forum I used a heavier decoder which Railmaster could not find I tried another three decoders which I knew were ok but still could not get Railmaster to recognise. So I am given up and going off for a holiday. Manny thanks to all forum friends for advice and encouragement. I have four shunter diesel wrecks which look.like they will be going on ebay as scrap Manny thanks to all Sammy Squirrel
  3. Hi folks!!! Latest situation I have serviced one XO3 and X04 motors and I think I have found out why I cannor convert them to DCC is because the worm in each oif motors is not linking properly with the worm gear on the chassis , they are locking tight and not allowiing the wheels to rotate. what have I done wrong. the motors are definitely running well Sammy
  4. Many thanks for all your help I will keep trying. I think latest problem is that the two start worm is not connecting to the ratchet drive wheel or alternatively it is jamming. will persevere until I solve this problem. Then I think Railmaster will be able to read CV's
  5. well!!I've tried yet again to convert my diesel shunter using a different decoder. I took the loco back to it's analogue state, checked the shunter ran ok Then fitted the decoder and then tried to get Railmaster to download the cv's for DCC but came up with trhe same results - loco was short circuiting the controller I have checked stall count which is 0.80amp I have renewed the brush set I am awaiting delivery of a heftier decoder but I don't what else to try Frustrated!!! Sammysquirrel
  6. Thanks everyone for your replies and advice I will purchase a heavier decoder and take all your suggestions into account when I retry to fit a decoder. I will seek help to establish the stall speed too. Watch this space!!!! Sammysquirrel
  7. THANKS FORTHE LINK I will have another go using The son of Triangman's instructions
  8. Continuing my previous topic My apologies to all who have replied to my topic I wish to say thank you to all unfortunately I do not know how to answer your comments I am 80 years of age I have put heatshrink on the brush clip and I have tried various decoders without success, Railmaster will not read the cv's and it is short circuiting the elink controller The basic decoder I am using is the Hornby 8249 Sammysquirrel
  9. I have been trying to convert this shunter to DCC but although I have already posted this on the forum the advice given has not worked completely. I keep getting my controller cutting out and the decoder will not programme. I think it is because of short circuiting on to the chassis I am therefore looking for a covertion guide sheet I notice on the forum that Schule52 has a topic query on this loco so perhaps he has a copy??? IF ANTONE CAN HELP ME I WOULD BE GRATEFUL Sammysquirrel
