  1. @ Dodge

I asked myself the same question, then I took a chance and googled. You will find his website.

The only thing for me is he wants to be paid by cheque or postal order and i just do jot have time for this method, can't remember last time I wrote a cheque and no time to be at the post office.

He does have quite selection of screws.

  2. I can also announce that Hornby have taken money from my American express for the Eastener train set plus a locomotive which I think is the Flying Scotsman as that is now showing in stock on the Hornby website. Super 😄

  3. OK just my 2 pennies worth here..This is an awful amount of track all the way to the edges so no scope for scenery just track..

My suggestion is to start with something simple because as time goes on your ideas will change along with layout taste as in you may decide rather than a tail chasing layout you may prefer a layout that is more shunting industrial theme or a layout with hills, tunnes and bridges . Learn how to lay tack as having properly laid track are the bones of the layout. Maybe start with a few of the track packs and go from there as that will be a small investment where as what your suggesting is a small fortune in track which you could mess up as you've mentioned your a beginner. Later on once you've mastered track laying and the electrics side of everything then you can move on to something more elaborate.

Compared to when I first started 20 years ago my tastes in layout have definitely changed. As I said just my 2 pennies

  4. Hello David

I'm friends with Simon and I know he's always rushed off his feet and also forgetful at times. Also this past few days has been in Germany for a toyfair pushing hornby and Arnold TT amongst other products.

I spoke with him yesterday morning for a catch up and will probably speak again early next week.

He won't be back at Hornby till next week. If you like I can mention it to him for you.

The body and tender are diecast along with nearly all small details being metal plus photo etch and have to say struggled to find plastic but a few parts are.

The retail price a shade under 300 in my opinion is good value and you certainly are getting your moneys worth plus the price is in line with European TT prices from Roco,Tillig, and piko.

The quality is superb and in line with my recent oo gauge metal dublo models.

  6. These Arnold locomotives are worth a look, expensive yes in a way but I certainly think you get what you're paying for

    DR Class 58. 201

Plus a wagon I treated myself to. Another 4 coaches still to arrive from Hornby. forum_image_63da292b7c479.thumb.png.06cc4ceec36da9d4c6bb37dae7f784f6.pngforum_image_63da29377b818.thumb.png.ada226dff52363c1a34a13c558987c88.pngforum_image_63da2942d69ea.thumb.png.02e19456a4ab59c1050e911bfb87b71b.pngforum_image_63da294d3637e.thumb.png.49936593bedf1ef7b67cec3d74755bec.pngforum_image_63da2957510e9.thumb.png.a9868c67a65afc2b300be79331c6c7e5.pngforum_image_63da29605956c.thumb.png.5c28605b73a0b46ff227ae6e4b939691.pngforum_image_63da296b477e8.thumb.png.6e9bf30e93b88db03e54fa930b0d8873.png

  7. @ too tall

    What were Hornby thinking ?

I'll tell you what they were thinking. The station, engine shed, signal box, water tower were designed on Dent Station which is a small branch line station and most locomotive were small as an example terriers, pugs 0-6-0 and 0-4-0 locomotives

    Mod edit: Unhelpful comment removed.

  8. This shed and station set are countryside buildings and we're not designed for pacifics as in A1, A4 locomotives example being Blink Bonny, the shed was designed for smaller 060 or 040 locomotives so Hornby measurements are correct. Go on to Google and do some research and you will find sheds identical to this on branch lines where Pacific locomotives never went.

Hornby, pull your finger out and get a bigger cargo ship for the next delivery. There are thousands of people waiting to pull the trigger on TT. If you hike the prices in January though you will kill a huge amount of interest. I was originally going to buy the Scotsman set and use the club points towards an Eastener set in February. Right now I doubt I will get either if the supply issues are not ironed out

How about some manners and common sense when you start a thread, firstly you fill containers and that can take a while to fill, do you think a container would be full of TT.Nope they will wait and fill said container with everything as an example, Hornby 00, scalextric corgi and what ever is ready that's made in china, a container can take weeks to fill because your waiting for production runs to end and make way to the port
Also I would rather they take their time rather than rush everything then no errors would be made.
Also when has Hornby ever said prices are increasing January. Ive heard nothing remotely suggesting that.

They only announced this range 2 months ago and people are acting like they have had pre orders for a year or 2.

  10. I received my station yesterday along with the Scotsman set and very happy , no issues with either but I have to say from the picture above I think the water tower and the signal box look out of scale both look massive compared to the station, from my experience walking along hedge rows both of these items are smaller in real life when compared to stations.
