Tezza, might I make a comment on your thread title which, as it stands, is very detailed but at the same time tells me nothing.

The trick to a good title is that it summarizes the question you are asking or the info you are reporting.

In this instance, adding “has 21-pin DCC Connector” makes a big difference. For me at least, it changes my response from “what on earth is/are he/she/they on about and do I want to use part of my life to find out?” To either “not interested move on” or “I had that same question in mind so will find out what people are saying”.

Not only that, future searching on the topic will be better too.

Yes good idea for the future, I dont seem to be able to change the title now though.

  2. When I'm logged in, any products I look at say 'Earn up to XXXX Hobby Points with this purchase', and the number of points equates to 15%.

However, I note in the blurb, that it now says - "Collect points when you shop across any of our brands. Earn 10 points for every £1 spent, which means you get 10% back in points.

So have they reduced this recently? If they have reduced this further, I dont think they'll have many takers for The Collectors Club going forward.

  3. Just to let everyone know, my new loco [as in title] has arrived today and it's 21 pin DCC, not 8 pin DCC as shown on Hornbys website. I have notified Hornby marketing by email.

This is quite annoying as I will now incurr extra expense to make it DCC, my old 8 pin TTS Coronation sound decoder wont go into it.

How easy or effective are convertors from 21 pin to 8pin?

  4. I had this a few months back, and again today, the solution is to slide the speed up to over 75%, a Hornby tech told me this, its a known error. My one today was a new Coronation Class with new decoder, sound profile was installed and working with no errors, but no wheel movement, until I moved the sider over 75%, then it kicked into life.

  5. Panic over now, went through to check that the CV 5 and 6 settings were at 15.

Adjusting those did then change the Acceleration and Deceleration Rates on the Locomotive Settings screen of the app, which wouldnt move from 256 when trying to use the sliders.

Train is now running perfectly with normal acceleration and deceleration rates.

Thanks again to all for your help.

  6. I have 7x steam locos with HM7000 decoders in now and 5 of them work fine, but the other 2, for some reason, take forever to get up to speed and to slow down.

Last night I was testing one of them and it took 2x full loops of my 14.5ft x 6.5ft layout to get up to maybe three quarters of top speed. It just makes moving these locos about so slow and almost unmanageable.

I have altered the basic start up / slow down setting to 256 and it makes no difference, so what else can I do? I am not familiar with CVs but if altering some of those, in the app, is the cure, can anyone point me to the correct ones to alter please, and what settings?

Apologies if this has already been discussed, I looked through and couldnt see it.

    Many thanks

  7. I have all these running with HM7000 decoders with sound:

    R30283 Coronation Class 'Coronation'

R3989 A1 Class 'Knight of Thistle'

    R3997 Princess 'City of London'

R3639 Princess Coronation King George VI

R3320 A4 Golden Eagle [bR Blue]

    R3701 A4 Walter K Whigham [bR Purple]

  8. @96RAF

Thanks, yes I think that may be the closest.

    P-Henny

Thanks Paul, I'd already been through them all on that page and there isnt one for the Coronation Class, which is odd when it had its own decoder, R8117, but I think one of the others, possibly the Stanier Princess Coronation one, may be the same.

  9. Morning guys. Update on this. I have checked for anything jamming the wheels, there's nothing, so then I removed the decoder and replaced the original blanking plug, it still doesn't move on DC and the motor sounds like its labouring. Pics show underneath of loco.

I think that given how new this loco is, I'm gonna contact Jadlams next week to see what to do with it.forum_image_64bb9bb681054.thumb.png.c80663bd3bdbf0e7277f60f4a7ae8e5c.pngforum_image_64bb9bb93ad64.thumb.png.dcd4262b62ad44dbbeddb31e6b8c6d71.png

  10. I have fitted a brand new 21 pin decoder in an R3997 City of London loco, it was a brand new loco from Jadlams last week, and a brand new R7322 21TXS decoder from Hornby last week.

Loco did approx 3 loops and was running absolutely fine, and with sound. Then it just stopped and all I get now is a high pitched humming noise when I increase speed on the app, and the loco won't move. It will still do sounds in its stationary position, but wont move.

Has anyone else had this, or have any ideas what might be causing this please?

Or, any ideas how to cure it, is there some kind of reset I can do for example?

    Many thanks in advance.

  11. Loads of really good questions on here, watching and monitoring with interest. I think the new system announcement is really exciting and the next step for DCC. I will be ordering the dongle that plugs into the Elite to control my existing DCC/TTS trains from the app. I am assuming from what I've read, that I can do that and then add any new type decoders to new or existing trains and run them all at the same time, from the same system.
