Sam seems to have a vendetta against Hornby, and it was apparent in this video.  I think nothing would please him more than to see Hornby go under.  If he wants me to take him seriously then he needs to review non-Hornby TT products too.

This is the current state of my layout. I just finished wiring it and so far so good. Please excuse the mess; I was trying different designs for the coal mine.

This is a Walthers Cornerstone N Scale Model New River Mining Kit painted red. I used Hiawbon Mini Wall Bricks to raise it up to fit the wagons and locomotive.

I think my frustration if you could call it that is Hornby seems to be fumbling the launch year in all catagories. I wished Simon Kohler had stayed on through the first launch year because it felt like despite the delays that there was at least meaningful communication. Hopefully 2024 will see Hornby work out the issues they saw in 2023. What they could really use is a good PR rep to keep the hype going when things go sideways.

I can't say about it stalling on points but my 08 is my worst runner. Kind of the reason I never bought a 2nd one.

To be honest, the main reason why not is that Hornby simply don’t work that way these days. The market won’t support any approach to model making that results in an inaccurate model.

I think the Railroad models prove that the market will support lower priced and lower detail but there is no modern manufacturer making inaccurate models.

The class 08/3F you are talking about were models from the 1960s that only lasted until the 80s when better models became available.

 

 

I think the market will support what ever they come out with until Heljan comes back or another company like Bachmann enters. Right now there is no competition and Hornby seems to be on cut cost kick right now; did you see the new era 1 live stock wagons?

3F Jinty would seem the most likely. I’m absolutely convinced it will be the announcement.

A 4F would be nice, but would it fall under the 0-6-0T designation?

Basing on the reused tooling on everything release so far I believe it will be an 08 chassis with one of the following bodies(possibly resized from an OO model).

With Tender(using a Dutchess Class Tender tooling for the tender)

Class 4F

J36 Class

My pessimistic side says the 1:120 clock, mug, etc

My optimistic side says a Smokey Joe or some other 0-6-0 steamer

My realist side says more up to date lead times and possibly the release of some more scenery items for preorder.

It was a garbage review for a garbage line. I feel like his remarks on TT were an awkward attempt to make the video into something meaningful. This is one of those videos he should have fed to his scrap man instead of releasing. I won’t hold it against him.

I'd love for Bachmann, Kato, and or Atlas to take a stab at it to bring a little diversity the market. Lord know if some american stock was announced I'd preorder it in a heartbeat.

[Class 43 sound set pre-order just cancelled by Hornby - why?]

Hi All,

Be warned - my pre-order for one of the Class 43 sound sets was just cancelled by Honrby without reason. That's not cool.

Now what? Hornby lists a new product to replace it at increased cost?

 

 

I was just looking at those era engines and all of them have been pushed back; some are 23-24 and the rest are spring/summer 24. Hornby should address this ASAP because this throws one of my plans completely out the window for now.
