  1. Hi there, I have recently been trying out an old Wrenn 0-6-0T Tank engine from Wrenn and was wondering has to how to remove the body from the chassis as I'm trying to get at the motor and chassis but there are 4 screws that seem to connect with the motor and chassis but there seems to be 2 rivets either side of the bogies and wondering whether these are holding the body to the chassis.
  2. Hi Colin, It's seems that I have been quiet fortunate in the decoder being OK as everything seems to be functioning in regards the testing system LiasDCC.So I get the feeling I may of connected the decoder the wrong way round.
  3. Yeah I'll do that instead of using strip lights.
  4. Hi Colin, If I test the decoder using my LiasDCC what generally happens if the switching circuit has blown on the decoder will there be any lights lighting up or will there be nothing happening.
  5. Hi there Ntp, Yeah I had been using these strip lights on my carriage coaches so no decoder requirement. So if I do use these strip lights with a decoder it's best to connect a 1k resistor in series with the LED.So diode requirement is only if being used on AC circuit. If I test the decoder on my LiasDCC what will I notice if the lights are not switching will there be nothing happening.
  6. You see I thought the small markers in between the LEDs where diodes. So I understand when using single LEDs it is best to use resistors and diodes are these used in series together?.
  7. So what would have caused the overloaded of the switching transistor if that was the case. Could me connecting 2 blue wires together and not individually may of cause the problem but having thought about it your just doing the same connection if you connected them individually.
  8. So is that likely the lighting circuit that is broken so you just have a permanent light on all the time so I could probably use that as a cabin light as the train still runs normally.
  9. Hi there, Now I've been told to come onto the DCC area has I have this bit of a dilemma and I have wired up a loco inline with the hornby directions for a 8 pin decoder and I have an issue with the front and rear lights as once the power to the Elite Controller is connected the rear lights just light up but can't switch them off with the controller and the front lights don't light up.
  10. Pictures of connections now not sure whether it's a hornby decoder thinking about it has this loco came with decoder already connected.
  11. The decoder is a Hornby 8 pin decoder but I'll try and send an Image of the connection on my train the thing is if I had a short this would of burnt out the decoder.
  12. Hi there, I have a small technical issue in regards I set up some lights for a loco of mine with front and rear lights now I followed the hornby wiring guide for a 8 pin decoder which seemed pretty straight forward now when it came to the V+ Common I connected the 2 wires together and soldered them to the V+Common connection and soldered Yellow to Pin 2 and White to Pin 6 but when I came to test it only the rear lights came on straight away but couldn't switch them off using the Elite Controller and the front lights don't work at all. Please could you clarify?.
  13. I see it's a good job i asked about this Decoder Testing device. As they say you learn something everyday.
  14. Oh right I see so what's the idea with the connections below in green board with Headlights and Rear Lights.
  15. Well my soul aim was to use the coach lights to test the decoder was working but with there being two wires + and - i could only see a connection on the LiasDCC Tester one connection for Headlights and another connection for Rear Lights so wasn't sure whether to connect one wire in the Headlight connection and the other in the Rear Light which sounded wrong and the other thought connecting both wires in one connection (ie Headlights) which also sounded wrong cause thinking that both wires would touch one another.
