El Slowco Rodriguez
Thinking of designing a 4/6 car digital rallycross track. Has anyone built such a track? Thinking of ideas for the off set start line and joker lap inclusion. Total noob with digital, can the track switches/lane changers be used for such? Thanks. woodcote
Hi Slowco Rodriguez - welcome to the forum! Rally cross 1980s-style was something I really enjoyed replicating with Scalextric when I was a kid. Our simulation involved putting oil on the start/finish line which gave a slippy first part of the lap and more normal grip on the final part. It was messy, but a lot of fun! I wouldn't recommend using the oil on digital track - I don't think the sensors will like it. The lane changers and pit entry pieces are 'opened' by pressing the lane change button on the controller, so you can easily make a joker lap loop using a pit lane - it would be one lane, but do the job. You'd have to confirm that all the drivers use the joker loop once per heat (and for any penalties) - so there is the need for one person to act as race controller. The offset start would be more tricky. You could use a fixed pit lane exit pieces on each side of the track - that would filter single 'start' lanes into the track. Not ideal, but probably the only way to get near it.
