Vintage Scalextric

Recommended Posts

I have a vintage scalextric set from early in Triang years. The box states Moedl GP.0 but on the scalextric History records I found on another site it states that the Grand Prix Series was issued from 1960 as GP.1, GP.2 and GP.3.  Bit confused.

Hi Coopz1962 - welcome to the forum!

That's a lovely set! I looked in Adrian Norman and Roger Gillham's "Scalextric - The Ultimate Guide" and the 1961 GP1 set is also listed as GP0. It is the same set with the same box art. However, there's a note to say the usual contents are 2 x C54 Lotus 16 cars, although the set has also been seen with 2 x C63 Lotus 21 cars. As your set has the Lotus 21s, perhaps that explains the change in designation to GP0? Lotus 16s = GP1, Lotus 21s = GP0? Adrian or the NSCC might give you a definitive answer.

Hope that helps.
