RNLI Severn Class Lifeboat Kit

To  those that have built this kit, or going to,There is a discrepency in the paint clours that Airfix list on the kit page of the Website.

I notice it says to use Humbrol Paint No. 28 Camouflage Grey. However it is not shown on the instructions! There is also a Humbrol Paint No. 127 shown in the instructions  and on the box but not on the Paint requirements page of the website, i am assuming due to it being another 'Grey' this is an error. You cannot get No. 28 anywhere anyway. ( why Airfix do you not update your info)!

Part No.8 'The Bow Thruster' (lots of head scratching here) is moulded wrong in my kit as i only have half of it! this would sugget it would be two-halves that need joining, again, however the instructions show as a single piece. Quite a nice detail to be omitting but i am having to fill this in now is it looked wrong with only on Prop showing.

I have not built a kit for some 25 years and thought this might be a challenge away from my Model Steam engine hobby.

Not sure this is a Level 2 Skil Model, nees to be 4 just to figure out the way to assemble the hull and deck cannot be built as per the instructions!!

Did anybody else have this issue?  I am sure the paint listing cannot just be me ( the listing of paints came from the kit page on the website).

Thanks and Have a safe and happy Xmas and New year!

The grey colours are referenced within the body of the instructions, they are the numbers not enclosed in a circle or square and with a leader to the relevant part. The greys are for use in the interior. 28 is currently not in stock but flagged 'more stock arriving soon. I'm not sure if 127 is actually required but I don't have time to trawl all the way through the instructions. I wondered about the bow thruster, but to be honest it's pretty much out of sight and for me out of mind. I've never been able to find a picture reference.

Thanks Paul,

I think Paint No.127 may of replaced No.28 as it is a similar light grey.

I did find several videos of the Airfix RNLI model on You Tube and one does show the Bow Thruster on the sprue briefly as a complete piece with two Props, its a shame as the detail in the propellor is very good.

My main point was that for our Younger model makers and novices you want it to be clear.

For anyone reading this that maybe thinking of making this one you can of course use the Humbrol Paint conversion chart as i have done so.

It is still a really detailed model to build and those that i have seen look really good painted.

Good Luck,,
