Shaughan
I am now 67 years old and I am now finding taking the tops of the various humbrol bottles nigh impossible. I reached out to Airfix about the problem and they have referred it to the warehouse(?).As this would appear to be a dead end I am enquiring what other modellers would recommend. I already use tamiya cement alongside liquid poly; but recommendations for clearfix and decalfix alternatives would be much appreciated. Needless to say the tops need to be easy open (like tamiya)
Shaughan
Hi Grumpy, sounds like it’s worth looking into. Who makes it/where can I find one?
Ratch
Regarding paint lids; all brands can be troublesome if paint becomes in contact with the screw area and dries. Be careful by cleaning up before putting the lid back on. The 'childproof' tops are another matter.I find DecalFix quite aggressive. The established decal liquids are Microset and Microsol, by Microscale Industries Inc. Vallejo have equivalents in 73212 Decal Medium and 73213 Decal Fix.Having said that, I use all three brands, under the right circumstances. Shaughan
Grumpy Ratch. Thank you both for your help. I will checkout Amazon for the gadget and have already ordered from same, the decal and clear replacements.
SD45elect2000
I have always used Channel lock pliers. Granted I have broken off bottle tops in the past, but the splattered paint wears off in 6 months or so. Randall
