SD45elect2000
I recently destroyed my 1/72 Blenheim canopy. I have another kit I can scavenge for now . I had great difficulty sealing up or filling to front seam. Has anyone used watch crystal cement to good effect on these clear parts?Of course I have PVA glue but I have has some issues with adhesion. SD45elect2000
Ok, I ordered a vac canopy set, I didn’t know they were available. I’m still learning how to do vac stuff, I actually have a bunch of vac kits that I’m hesitant to tackle . Maybe soon, they are some rare and unusual planes from the US yellow wing era. thanks for the correct suggestion Rod!Randall
Ratch
Another possible solution would be to plunge-mould a replacement yourself. I have not tried this technique personally, but I know of other modellers who do.
SD45elect2000
Hi Ratch,I have heard of this as well.. I don’t know a lot about it though.I was just looking at UV curing glue but I’m not sure I want to buy a curing light, I’m running out of space. Although it might give me a nice Caribbean tan. peebeep
Personally I've found that UV glue is not up to the job, it just doesn't stick very well. As Rod has suggested, Clearfix is good to go but I also use white glue or GS Hypo (watchmaker's cement). It really depends what might be closest to hand at the time, but I use GS Hypo more frequently these days. The beauty of white glue is that it's intrinsically gap filling. GS Hypo is handy if you want to deliberately leave a canopy shutting line visible.
