Dad’s Army figure set

It would be nice to see this classic comedy in figure scale possibly 1/32. And then you could paint them any way you want to. For example Pike’s scarf has changed throughout the series so you could do it any way you want to. And it could also have air raid warden Hodges, the vicar and the verger.

I like that idea. The only issues are that each figure would need to be individually moulded, whereas the previous sets have multiples of each figure, so this would make it more expensive. Then there's the licencing fee, and the fact that Airfix don't do new figure sets anymore, and that the series finished over forty years ago, so it's really only old fogies like us who would buy it.

This subject was briefly mentioned in another post a few months ago but received little response. It would be good to see younger contributors mention what TV or film figures they would like see as subjects for new Airfix sets. The old themes such as High Chaparral, Tarzan, and Wagon Train are unlikely to be seen again except as vintage classics.

Perhaps this subject might be considered as Local Defence Volunteers, thereby not needing licence agreements. That's if Airfix are considering re-entering the Figure market.

Its a good idea to have an LDV set, there are some small scale Volkssturm figures available but as usual the British are left out. On a similar theme it would be good to see a return of the 1/32 British Infantry from the 1970's set to accompany the new Ferret.

Of course, to go with the Ferret they would have to be 1/35.

A Chaparral would be an interesting addition to Airfix's armour range - and in smaller scales the existing Sidewinders would probably work.

The high Chapperal set was of figures - a cowboy set featuring four figures from the television series The High Chapperal.

S38/01738-1

High Chaparral

1/76 scale.

Basically a reissue of most of Cowboys (S7) with four new figures and an empty base. It is believed that the additional four figures have their own moulding block that can be inserted or removed from the frame as required.

Comprising:

1 "Big John" Cannon and his wife Victoria

1 "Buck" figure

1 "Billy Blue" figure

1 "Manolito" figure

2 Galloping horses + bases

2 Trotting horses + bases

2 Standing horses + bases

1 Rider with hat in hand

1 Unarmed rider wearing a hat

2 Riders with rifles

2 Riders with revolvers

4 Cowboys crawling

4 Cowboys on foot with one revolver

4 Cowboys on foot with revolver and no hat

2 Wounded cowboys

4 Cowboys on foot with two revolvers

4 Cowboys on foot with rifles

2 Bankers, held up

Figure sculptor: John Niblett

Available as Cowboys (S7) in 7th Edition (1970) catalogue with red stripe box illustrated in 1970.

Not listed on 1970 (900249) price list.

Issued as S38 from 1971 to 1972.

Type 3F. Red angled ribbon, rounded cartouche.

Artwork by Brian Knight.

I assume that Chris is thinking of the Chaparral mobile air defence vehicle based on the M113 chassis. Actually that's sound likes a good idea, I'd like to see it in 1/72 scale.
