Rana Temporia
I was going through some of my late Father’s boxes of treasure/junk/fun and came across this and I have no idea what it is. I thought it was a Tri-ang Davy Crockett dome/safety valve but it is a completely different shape. I remember him buying the box from a car boot sale and most of the other parts in it were from the 1950s/60s. The base is flat with a plastic protrusion to fit to whatever loco it’s off. The diameter of the main part is measured at 10.7mm.

Going Spare
It looks very similar to the dome/safety valves cover on the Kitmaster 'The General' - but that was moulded with the boiler halves - so from another early American loco, perhaps? atom3624
It's a little strange how prominent the peg/rod is on top of the dome.It does look to be off 'something American'.Al.
What About The Bee
Hi RTPerhaps a capstan for a model boat. The steel peg goes down into a hole and rope (string?) wraps around the semicircular depression up top.I was on a commercial vessel yesterday, and saw one. Your part immediately jumped to mindBee
atom3624
Just thinking? If it is a dome of an American steamer, perhaps the peg / spigot is to locate a bell?Al.
