Mike Billings
1950's and 60's rotorcraft are hard to find as well detailed kits. The veteran kits take a lot of work upgrading, if they can be found and afforded on internet sites.
michael_mahon
I created a thread for the re-issue of this 1/72 scale model helicopter. I have re-posted on this thread and will try to delete my earlier post In order to avoid 'diluting' the following for this kit.I would certainly buy several of these, if the model were to be re-issued. I built one. some years ago, when it was issued as an 'Admiral's Barge' in RN colours and would like to add a number of these to my collection in both RAF and RN colour schemes. Additionally, there were resin after market kits (now discontinued) to modify this model to the later turbine engine fitted HAR 10 variant. Nonetheless, I would like to try producing a couple of this variant in RAF Air/Sea Rescue colours.Mick
Andrew Frost
Mike, I love your idea! I too was going to suggest this because I was on a fantastic site yesterday called "kits for cash" which specialises in discontinued and rare models such as Airfix ww1 aircraft like the avro 504k, re8, albatross d111, dva and sopwith pup, camel and airco dh2 and 4 (all of which I bought for for £41.50!) and I also looked for the Westland whirlwind which they do sell in the original packaging but i wouldn't be able to bring myself to open the packaging. Anyway, I love this idea and it has my full backing.

Gloster Javelin
A reissued Whirlwind could also have decals for BEA civilian version as featured in Beatles film A Hard Days Night. The real one is under restoration at Weston Super Mare
Gadfly
Yes let's 'reap the whirlwind'
Anthony Clarke1707819863
Please. It would fill a gap in my 'museum'. Royal Navy markings.
david_tidmarsh2
Yes please!! If this could be made with a HAR variant then my RAF search and rescue display would be complete.
markyp89
I'd love a new mould Westland Whirlwind helicopter to be issued. The Italeri/Revell kits, when can be found, are good but they not the Westland versions.Given the variety of colour schemes carried by Royal Navy versions over their service, then there good mileage here for Airfix to fulfill many a modellers wish and likely turn a profit. David Connolly1707819838
You can still do a reasonable representation from the old kit if you cut out the roof windows and raise the rotor mast a bit./media/tinymce_upload/b0d37bccdd0b98ae0f1ad14c6dbd95e9.jpg
