Jonathan Mock
Sad to read today of the passing of one of the giants of this hobby, American modeller and collector Sheperd Paine.Long story short, many modellers growing up in the 70s and 80s came to know Shep's work through his association with Monogram and his fabulous dioramas at shows. His work became an inspirations for generations of modellers because he was ahead of the curve, he was developing ideas and techniques well in advance of the norm at the time, and the fact that his work from 30 or 40 years ago still stands up today is a testament to his talent. Anyone wanting to read more about Shep can click on the link below to read Jim DeRogatis moving obituary. or follow the link to Shep's website to see his incredible work. The hobby has lost an icon and a friend but his work will live on.Thank you Shep. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153443686955605 http://sheperdpaine.com/
theplasticsurgeon
Absolutely gutted to read this.As Jonathan says - I remember his Monogram dioramas from the 1970s, but better from the Fine Scale Modeller mag that covered them all a few years ago. Certainly an inspiration and a build standard to aspire to.RIP Shep.
