Shadow.Monk
I know. I am very unhappy about that as mine went for £138!!! :(See Hornby, you see how valuble and how much people want this engine? BRING IT BACK! YOU'RE LOSING OUT!
Moomintroll
That's the irony, people don't buy these engines until they can't and then panic and pay the wrong price... I suspect Murdoch will go don't the same track.
Shadow.Monk
ANOTHER Spencer has just appeared on Ebay. This is the fourth one in roughly a month, do peopl see this as good news? Maybe Hornby have released a new secret batch :D
Moomintroll
I thing it's a classic bubble, even I'm thinking about posting my Spencer at these silly levels! We saw this on oliver, toad and the flying Scotsman thomas version. Toads were trading an 80plus on eBay now the Market has settled they are going for less the 40..
Shadow.Monk
I wonder if Hornby will re-release certain models if they knew how much they went for on Ebay. Probably not :(
TransportMan
I don't see that happening as the apt goes from £100 - £300 on a good day. and hornby still hasn't reissued it. may because it would be made in china?
Moomintroll
I suspect the problem is simple economy of scale, for hornby to do a run of any model, even if the have the mold... They are going to need to commit to a minimum batch of probably a thousand or more. Whereas for ebay to hit silly money for a model all you need is have two people desperate to buy one item and the sky is the limit. My hunch, if hornby could make just a batch of 50 they would sell out in no time but most would be to nieve speculators looking to make a quick buck on eBay.
