Josephs mum
Not sure if this is the right place to post as have no knowledge as will probably become clear! i bought my son some second hand scaletrix for this birthday the power has a loose connection so doesn't work well. We bought a new set thinking we could join the two together but one set has round connectors with holes and the other one rounded one flat is there any way to join the two? will the cars work on both? thank you
Blagard
Yes they can be joined. Modern cars have a deeper guide blade that is known to catch on the classic track, but you can trim a bit of the guide off to get it working smoothly The set with pairs of round connectors is known as classic - the slot is slightly shallower than modern sport/digital and the steel is not as good quality as modern making it more prone to rust and poor connections You need a pair of adapters to connect the two or if you don't have a lap counter they often come with adapter ends as well but please make sure if you get the lap counter it is the version exactly as illustrated in the links below. There are versions that have only one type of end and you need the one where both bits of track have different ends. Some C8215 have one bit of track with sport both ends the C8222 is pure adapters without lap counter. Note they must be bought as a pair. Some sell one bit only which is pointless! See:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SCALEXTRIC-C8215-Lap-Counter-Timer-Classic-Sport-C8222-/332083915974? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scalextric-Sport-Lap-Counter-Timer-/201773678266? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SCALEXTRIC-C8215-LAP-COUNTER-TIMER-USED-FOR-CLASSIC-OR-SPORT-TRACK-/291989325501? As daft as it is, the pure adapters often seem to cost more!
