Loxbourne
Hi all, I've got a Hornby Live Steam Mallard in apparently-good condition but when I warm her up steam and hot water shoot out of the tender's overflow pipe and the pistols don't move when I open the regulator. When it first happened there was an obvious air bubble in the water line running from the tender, so I thought I might have an air lock and drained it down, but it recurred again afterwards.Any idea of how to clear it? I've never taken these things apart before so I'm nervous about where to start. Should I ship it to Hornby for repairs?

mjb1961
Hi ,,,,,,the perished seal is most likely your problem ,,,,,you may have some spares in the box,if not they are available from the oo live steam forum ,,,,,or eBay ,,,mjb
Go_West
As has been said if water and steam escapes from the over flow out let of the tender boiler then the seal on the end of the filler screw is U/S and most likely needs replacing you can use a standard O ring of the correct type and size if you can not get one from Hornby or a dealershi.Ken
Loxbourne
Thanks everyone, I've got a pack of replacement seals and the one on the end of the tender plug was obviously falling apart. I'll give the loco a test run in the near future.
