  1. TXS decoder is a logic level output on HFOs 5 and 6 so cannot drive lighting loads direct.
  2. You can split the layout into as many power districts as you like but if most of your locos congregate in one district you have defeated the system. The prime idea of power districts is load spreading, so you need to think more along the lines of which layout working areas need to be separate load districts by dint of track traffic density. Secondary is being able to have isolated sections to aid fault finding, but realistically once you get the layout wired up and commissioned into running, there should never be any need for such problem solving.
  3. You obviously treat yours with more respect than mine get, as they are tested to death and beyond. I have 2 good ones, and one with half the buttons inop and a smoker. Good for spares tho'. Oldest one is 2006. I have 6 Elites ranging from a couple that are OK, to those sort of working except for USB or programming, to sort of works but gets very hot and a box of assorted bits. Oldest one is 2007. I have many other modules like acc decoders, power boosters, reversing loop and of course a couple of eLinks, all in various states of serviceability due to being subject to 'see if you can break them' directives in testing or being fumbled during updates.
  4. The encoders I bought have a good click detent.
  5. If it has the old bent tin heat sinks in the Select image, I recommend replacing them with extruded versions. If you don't have access to a scrap device to rob from then any similar heatsink can be used, e.g. offcuts from window glazing, computers and other domestic electronics. Image shows eLink, but other Hornby devices are the same.
  6. That would on the HM7000 documents page linked to in the sticky post or if you prefer here https://uk.hornby.com/hm7000/hm-dcc-guides
  7. Lights and background sound are the always on selections. Anything else needs to be configured if the profile does not include it, e.g. brake squeal at stop. See the famous manual page 66 onwards.
  8. The pickups are part of item 10 - the wheel wipers are circled in red in this image. The red highlighted bit is one of two actual pickup strips
  9. Why are they called Roman numerals when they only use letters.
  10. Hornby has confirmed the hard copy book included with the Hornby mag will be uploaded to the website as a PDF - if that affects your proposed scheme. Collating member schemes into a PDF is a good idea and one which the late Chrissaf would have excelled at. Just needs a capable volunteer to step into those shoes.
  11. Had you been using an Elite then it would have been useful to prove the decoder or not outwith RM. Final question. The decoder isn't in an unpowered car is it, because these decoders need a load to read-back.
  12. I would examine the complex speed table CV values to see if there is an anomaly in speed step progression, especially at the 'hitch' point. Normally chopping the plug off will mean the warranty is void as Hornby cannot plug it into their system to check it out. You can but try George on the direct email address and see what he says.
  13. I did read your original post of the 1st April and noted that you committed the 3 cardinal sins of reloading RM, laptop and HM | DCC. The forum has often advised against the need ever to do that for a perceived decoder fault. You say it works in bluetooth and DCC modes but you still haven't said what controller is being used with RM or if you have a separate DCC controller of another make/model. At risk of repeating myself and echoing Fishy until RM is updated to include the HM7K definitions then RM will only be able to blind read rather than read a custom CV set. Again if you are disatisfied with that decoder email George, tell him it is playing up and he will replace it.
  14. Unfortunately if a loco is inactive then you cannot access it to copy over any settings, but if the proposed suggestion to be able to export not only functions but also CV values then maybe that could be made to work 'off-line'.
