Side mounted point motors?

There are two way s to mount a switch when using side mount point motors:

1. use a separate microswitch operated by the tie bar on the side opposite the motor.

2. Mount (glue) a modified PL-30 switch (snip off the mounting clips to give a flat switch) directly under the point and fit a track pin through the point tie bar into the switch slider boss.

See here and here

Hi

There is a third option and that is to use a twin coil latching relay worked by the pulse of power going to the motor to move it over. You can buy these ready made from Gaugemaster - GM500 or their GM500D for use with an accessroy decoder Example... http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=GM500&style=main&strType=&Mcode=Gaugemaster+GM500 or make your own with a twin coil latching relay and three diodes, see... http://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/Electrical%20page%202.html#Unable

Normally a twin coil latching relay has two independent sets of change-over contacts. One set can be used on electrofrog points for frog polarity switching and the other for whatever is needed - signal aspect control or panel indications etc.

BTW. I think RAF96 means the Peco PL-13 switch not PL-30.  😉
