Ruffnut Thorston
Can Stay Alive Capacitors be fitted to ANY DCC Decoder? I know that there are Decoders with two wires to take a Stay Alive Capacitor package. Can a Stay Alive be wired into any Decoder? That is a bog standard decoder, not officially equipped to take a Stay Alive? If so, How would it be wired? I am looking at DCC fitting small short wheel base locos.... Chrissaf
In principle Yes. Every DCC decoder has a 'Bridge Rectifier' on it. You just need to identify the two solder pads that are the DC 'positive' and 'negative' output of the Bridge..Review MY answers in this previous posted thread:https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/post/view/topic_id/13404/?p=2.
