In these situations many forum members replace the Hornby speaker with a smaller one that also happens to be better quality. The most common replacement type is termed a "sugar cube" speaker as they are cubic in shape and come in a multitude of sizes to suit a wide range of loco types. The replacement speaker must not be less than 8 ohms and 1Watt.
