Ard Lochan
Hornby Bittern twin tender bought new and fitted with a lenz dcc chip. It is very slow in the forward direction but in reverse is fine. I have lubricated it and checked the back to back and all is OK. I tried a Hornby sapphire chip and it is still the same. I have run the loco in both directions for a hour or so but no difference. also if I turn the loco around no different. Any suggestions? Regards Ard. Rog RJ
How new is it? If it's very new, return for repair, replacement or refund.
Ard Lochan
As it is as rare as rocking horse manure I shall keep it, If it does not improve over time i will put the body on one of my other A4`s........
Chrissaf
All I could suggest is running it with the body off (ideally on a rolling road if you can borrow one) so that you can watch the drive train to see what differences, if any, there are in forward vs reverse traction. The internal motor / drive train torques are different between forward and reverse. The drive train might be moving slightly in the forward direction causing gears to bite and increase drag compared to when in reverse. Similarly, the connecting rod on the wheels geometry might be off and favouring the reverse direction.
