Hi there can someone explain step by step how to wire a Hornby R8247 up please,  I have an idea but not 100% certain

Does the two wires from the Elite controller marked accessory go to the track, then on the R8247 port mark track do they go to the track obviously, then you have the red black and green wires, does the red and green have to go in the correct marking + - or can they be switched round to fire the points in the opposite way

Hi Mick, do not connect the Elite accessory output to the track for any reason, it will probably be fatal.  The 8247 must connect to the track output, track itself or a DCC bus if you use one.  Then yes, swapping the + and - will alter the direction of grow.

The + and - would be easier to understand if marked with left and right arrows.  C as stated is the common solenoid connection.

Think of how it works this way - dcc signal from the controller or track or bus into the device via A-B, which processes the signal and sends out a pulse or steady voltage to the 4 ports each having the + C - connections for the point motor.

Mick see this previous post, it contains a wiring diagram. It was written for Select and R8243 surface mount point motors, but is just as valid for Elite, eLink and R8014 point motors as well. The side of the R8247 marked track as others have said DOES NOT connect to the Elite AUX output. It goes to the TRACK as the labelling on the terminals says or the TRACK output of the Elite which electrically is the same thing. In an ideal world, one would be best never to use the Elite AUX output for anything because again as others have indicated, using the AUX takes away power from running trains.
