Coaster
hi therewondering if there Is a way to test track without plugging it in?perhaps using a voltmeter or something?would love to have a quick way of testing if track is functional as I have a large amount but i know a few are a tad faulty. Thanks tom
Andy P.
You can use an Ohmeter on any mult-meter or volt meter that will check how well the rails are conducting electricity. The lower the value the more resistance the worse condition the track is.You can do a very quick test by putting the electrodes as far apart as possible around the track to at least see if there is a break (and to test the overall conductivity). This is only marginally useful though as to thoroughly test the track you need to test inside the rail and the surface that makes contact to with the braids and even then there could be connection problems between section of track. It does help to test with an ohmmeter but it is by no means the best and only solution as even with perfect conductivity if there is a problem with the power supply you are back to square one...
