johnpa
After fitting R8249 DCC decoder elink flashes and loco moves jerkily in time to the flashes. Loco was working fine as DC before I fitted decoder. Does this suggest that decoder is faulty? I was extremely careful when fitting not to touch any contacts or components.

96RAF
Can you read the decoder on the programming track or does it bother the eLink there as well. If you can read it try a decoder reset. Rob
johnpa
As the elink keeps flashing and the loco keeps starting and stopping I don't want to leave either running like that - am afraid I'll damage elink or loco.
Fishmanoz
What loco? If an older type it may be overloading the decoder, in which case you’ll need a 1 Amp type instead. But try a replacement in any case. Unlikely it is overloading the eLink unless faulty.
96RAF
The reason I said on the programming track is because the current is limited to prevent damage to any of the kit due to a fault.Rob
