New Flying Scotsman TTS not responding

Hello,

I'm failing as a father to a rail enthusiast!

His new Flying Scotsman TTS does not respond to anything.  We are using the Select controller and nothing happens using the default address 03.

The code 11/30 followed by 03 keeps appearing on repeat. All other locos work fine. Thoughts?

Thank you in advance.

If you are saying that when the FS TTS loco is on the track. The Select just keeps repeating the 11 30 03 display over and over. But with the FS TTS removed from the track, the Select stops showing that number sequence and you can operate other locos normally.

.

If that description describes your issue, then your FS TTS loco is causing a 'short circuit' on the track and is probably faulty [return it for replacement under warranty from where you bought it].

.

When the Select is powered by the 1 amp power supply, a 'short circuit' on the track causes the 1 amp power supply to shutdown its output to self protect. This causes the Select to continually reboot until the 'short circuit' condition is removed. The 11 30 03 number sequence is the Select power start up display.

.

By the way, the 11 denotes that the Select has got an early version 1.1 firmware. You need firmware version 1.5 to fully operate a TTS loco. Hornby provide a postal firmware upgrade service for £15. Contact Hornby Customer Care services to arrange an upgrade. See 'Contact Us' link at bottom of the web page.

If the power supply unit has blown now may be a good time to upgrade to the 4amp supply as used by the Elite, which is compatible with the Select. This will allow you to run several more locos at once with your Select.

When you are contact with Hornby Customer Care to arrange the Select firmware upgrade tell them that the power unit has blown and ask if you can include that in the returns parcel. You may/may not get a new one.
