The differences between R8236 & R8266 cables

Recommended Posts

R8236 - This is a standard RJ12 Cable with 3 twisted pairs in the standard RJ12 configuration with a 6 conductor connector. This cable is only used in conjunction with the Booster unit.

R8266 - This is actually an RJ11 Cable with 2 twisted pairs

in a non standard configuration with a 4 conductor connector. This cable is only used in conjunction with the Walkabout unit.

**However they both use the same plug socket shell.

This could be a disaster waiting to happen as the smaller plug can be plugged into the same socket as the larger one if aligned carefully, but you say they both have the same socket shell.
I notice RJ45 compounds the error with 8 pins, that you can

plug either an RJ11 or RJ12 into.
Why didn't you at least use different coloured cable or hang a sensible label on them, such as 'ONLY TO BE USED WITH ...'.
Is there any difference in length to give us a clue as in your shop illustrations they both look

to be the same length, although the booster cable is tagged at 3m, the other has no length quoted.
Apart from looking at how many pins they have is there a problem plugging the walkabout cable into a booster (and what ever the other end fits) - i.e. will

it blow one or both ends of the kit...
