Chrissaf
Which model of Tornado? Rxxx number?
Chrissaf
Can you quote the Hornby Rnnnn number please. If not, an approximate year of manufacture. Failing that, can you confirm whether the loco is Tender or Loco drive and what type of electric motor it might have in it i.e 'Ringfield' or a 'Can' motor. Does it say "DCC Ready" on the packaging?. All of these different loco types have their own different ways of being converted, so it is necessary to identify the correct type first..TIP: As this is your very first post, just be aware that the 'Blue Button with the White Arrow' is not a 'Reply to this post' button. 96RAF
Searching for Tornado service sheets shows only two variants DDC ready and TTS fitted. The former has a socket in the loco to fit an 8-pin decoder and the latter already has a sound decoder fitted In the tender. Each variant can be in various colours but the loco itself is essentially the same in each batch.
