Throppers
Hi all,I'm in need of a new idler gear set for a Westward Ho R2609 due to a split in the single gear. The part # is X8849 however on various retailers who have that part in stock, there is a warning to say that this gear set will not fit the rebuilt Bulleids as, when Hornby produced those locos along with other 4-6-2 locos, they used two types of idler gear, but now only produce one type as a spare, which will not fit the rebuilt Bulleids.Any suggestions of an alternative / comparable part that could be used in place or a source of a gear set which will fit the rebuilt Bulleid locos?ThanksThroppers
Frodsham Flyer
only just spotted this - I guess you are after the gear between the motor and the axle? If so I have a rebuilt MN that is being canabalised for parts to restore a couple of others, and I do have a spare gear if it helps? let me know if you do - pm me? Chrissaf
There is no PM (Private Messaging) function on this forum..Also note for information that any personal contact info such as private email addresses, postal addresses, telephone numbers etc that are posted, are in breach of forum guidelines and the post will be removed..Frodsham Flyer......if you want to donate 'Free of Charge' a spare part to Throppers (no selling allowed). Then that is fine, but to do that, both parties must make a 'put me in contact with' request via Adam the forum administrator. Only Adam has visibility of forum members email addresses, thus this is not something a MOD can do. Such requests are treated individually at Adam's discretion based upon the merit of the request. Therefore, even if the 'can you facilitate us to make contact' request is made, it is not guaranteed to happen unless both parties request it..PS - Adam is forum@hornby.com. atom3624
There are various chassis for sale on Ebay.I've recently used the kit and fitted the idler gear, but it is difficult - must ensure free movement and I think I used the original pin.
