Converting to DCC

Hi all, 

  I am a new member to the forums, and returning to the model rail hobby after 20+ years. 
My question to th knowledge base here is this. 

i have my Hornby Class 58 loco that was part of the Midnight Express set i was given as an 9 or 10 year old around 1990-91.  Can this loco be converted to DCC at all?

If you included a picture it will be held for approval by sote Admin who works office hours Mon-Fri. A status for your post appears at the top of the screen, with a green background if its OK or a reddish background if there is a problem. Often this block is off the top of the screen especially on a tablet so you can easily miss it.

 

The diesels are usually fairly easy to convert to DCC and you can either hard wire in a decoder or install a suitable socket making future decoder replacement a lot easier. Others will be along with more detail for you later.
