wizzie
Hi guys, my first go at building a model railway, so far I've got the track on a 6x4 board and would like to use six R8243 surface mounted points with two R8247 Decoders. Can the decoders be wired together into the same port on the Elite controller?ThanksWizzie
Chrissaf
Can the decoders be wired together into the same port on the Elite controller?.YesThis is the way that Hornby envisage it being connected......using power clips../media/tinymce_upload/3cba24298204157f3cafaff1f6aa6328.jpg.Brand new Hornby R8247s come with the track clip for connection as per the above schematic..Personally, I dislike the use of the clips as they are a fault liability. I much prefer the direct connection method as shown by the dotted lines. However, in order to get two R8247s plus the track connection wire pairs (3 pairs of wires in total) into the Elite track connector, then I suggest using a two way screw terminal block as a wiring concentrator (star wiring topology) so that only one pair of wires actually connect to the Elite. In essence, all the R8247s and the track connections are wired in parallel to the Elite..TIPAs my reply includes an image do not use the 'blue button'. If you use the blue button, any reply you write, may be held back for image approval. Even though it is already a previously published image..See also – further TIPs on how to get the best user experience from this forum.https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/tips-on-using-the-forum/

2e0dtoeric
surface mounted points - I presume you mean motors! I hope the points are on the surface. Underneath the board could be a bit tricky! 😛
RDS
@Ericm0hffI am very tempted to remove your post - it is not at all helpful to a new user. I think we know what he means.
